• Meet the Boston Hemophilia Center Team

    The Boston Hemophilia Center is a federally-funded hemophilia treatment center (HTC) that treats both children and adults. Children are treated at Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. Adult patients are treated at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

    Pediatric Team

    Ellis Neufeld, MD
    Ellis Neufeld, MD, PhD
    Our director, Ellis Neufeld, is an experienced pediatric hematologist and is associate chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology. He is also the director of Boston Children's Thalassemia Program and a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He has extensive expertise in the treatment of bleeding and clotting disorders including immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), thalassemia and thrombosis.

    Stacy Croteau, MD
    Stacy Croteau, MD
    Stacy Croteau is a pediatric hematologist who specializes in bleeding and clotting disorders. Her interests include early phase clinic trial design and implementation, and her research focuses on factor dispensing practices and the individualized pharmacokinetics of factor replacement products in order to optimize prophylactic and therapeutic regimens. She is an instructor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
    Frederic Shapiro, MD
    Frederic Shapiro, MD
    Frederic Shapiro is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Boston Children’s. His research focuses on the cause of pediatric skeletal deformities. In addition to his clinical and research responsibilities, he is also an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School.
    Loren D'Angelo
    Loren D'Angelo, CPNP, MSN, RN
    Loren D'Angelo is a pediatric nurse practitioner who specializes in the care of patients with bleeding disorders and their families.
    Laura Gray
    Laura Gray, MSW, LICSW
    Laura is responsible for managing the Center’s special projects, such as social media outreach, patient and family education programs, World Hemophilia Day and an outdoor exercise-focused summer program. She works with staff on both the adult and pediatric sides to support projects, and is always open to new ideas to enhance our services for patients and families.

    Amanda Boyer is a physical therapist who specializes in the treatment of bleeding disorders.

    Jackie Miranda
    Jacqueline Miranda, MSW, LICSW
    Jacqueline Miranda is a clinical social worker whose experience focuses on working with patients with blood disorders, such as sickle cell disease and hemophilia. In addition, she is the Boston Hemophilia Center’s designated Spanish-speaking social clinical worker.
    Kate Quint  Kate Quint, MSW, LICSW

    Kate Quint is a clinical social worker who focuses primarily on pediatric patients with bleeding disorders, including hemophilia, sickle cell disease, and thalassemia, as well as other general hematologic disorders.


    Adult Team

    Aric Parnes, MD
    Aric Parnes, MD
    Aric Parnes is an adult hematologist who specializes in bleeding and clotting disorders. Dr. Parnes completed medical school at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and went to Dartmouth College for internship and residency in internal medicine. From there, a fellowship in hematology and oncology led him to Yale University, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School and an associate director of the Boston Hemophilia Center.

    Paula Temoczko, NP
    Paula Temoczko is a board certified nurse practitioner who specializes in the care of adult patients with bleeding disorders and other benign hematologic conditions.
    Christine Mitchell
    Christine Mitchell, MSW, LICSW
    Christine Mitchell is a clinical social worker who specializes in hemophilia care for adults and their family members.
    Debra McNamara
    Debra McNamara, MSW
    Debra McNamara is Program Administrator for the Boston Hemophilia Center. She provides leadership, direction and day-to-day oversight of the Boston Hemophilia Center and the Factor Program.
