Finding a cure wouldn’t mean we’ve defeated cancer

While the cancer Moonshot aims to double the rate of
progress toward improving cure rates, the Huffington Post quotes Chief Medical
Officer Lisa Diller, MD, in a piece that asks if enough attention is being paid to
survivors, particularly survivors of pediatric cancer. Lisa Diller, who directs
Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s survivorship clinic, notes the difficult issue of
balancing the goal of protecting survivors against late effects with the chance
that a child might relapse if not given the strongest possible treatment.
