Young Warrior Shares His Story

The Cancer-Kicking Warrior column in the Catskill Daily Mail and Register Star focuses on the story of Tom Chalmers, a survivor of a pediatric brain tumor, who was treated at Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center who now leads a group in Maine for young adult survivors of cancer.

“I wish I had gone to support groups when I was going through this,” says Chalmers, who was diagnosed at age 20. “I think it would have helped in my transitioning back into the real world. Being at a transitional age in life and having cancer can be an extra challenge!”
